Triple Triad

A love letter to the iconic card game from Final Fantasy VIII — rebuilt, expanded, and free to play.

v1.4.0 Out Now
The Story

You're not a SeeD. But behind a card table, nobody can tell.

After failing the SeeD exam, you transfer to Balamb Garden and find yourself drawn into the underground world of competitive Triple Triad. Challenging players, collecting rare cards, and working your way toward the world championship — one match at a time.

The world around you is changing. War is coming. Familiar faces from FF8 are making their moves. Your path runs alongside those events — influenced by them, shaped by them — but this is your story.

Galbadia Garden

A new Galbadia Garden region, Irvine joins the cast, crafting arrives with its first recipe, and the Combo rule unlocks.

v1.4.0 Latest Release · September 2026

Missions & Deling City

Save slots and a new missions system land, with region completion moving from card collection to mandatory missions — plus Fisherman's Horizon teaches Sudden Death and opens the route to Trabia, and Deling City kicks off the tournament ticket storyline.

v1.5.0 In Progress

Trabia Garden

Trabia Garden joins the world with your first tournament-qualifier trial matches and a snowfields sidequest, while a reveal in Deling City hints at trouble ahead. Also includes a redesigned world map and a new hand and card selection screen.

v1.6.0 Planned

Underground Duels

Find the way in from Deling City to the underground duels beneath D-District Prison. They introduce the Random rule, which deals your hand from the distinct cards you own rather than from how many copies you hold. Also fixes how the AI scales within each difficulty tier.

v1.7.0 Planned

Tomb of the Unknown King

The full Tomb of the Unknown King quest (entry, riddle, and the Brothers Battle) ships as one release, with rare rewards for those who see it through.

v1.8.0 Planned

Esthar & the World Championship

The journey reaches Esthar for the tournament semi-finals, with a few familiar faces along the way and a hidden site worth seeking out. Then come the World Championship finals, and one last opponent.

On the horizon

Side quests and features we're planning for a future release. They aren't tied to a version yet.

Centra Ruins

Ancient ruins, formidable foes, and maybe a legend waiting deeper inside.

Chocobos

Track down the Chocobo Forests and see what they have to offer your collection.

Card Club

Beat the club members one by one, win their rare cards, and earn a match with the King.

Queen of Cards

She's always one step ahead. Follow her from region to region to one final showdown.

Multiplayer

Take your deck head to head against other players. Early days, but it's on the list.

Off the map

Some things are better found than announced. We'll say no more.
